The Institute of Endocrinology is a new construction, 8,000 square foot medical facility located in Panama City, Florida. This beautiful facility includes a large lobby, reception area, exam rooms, a lab, break room, doctor’s lounge, nurses station, an office, restrooms, iodine room, treatment gym and training room.
The Institute of Endocrinology needed to have several different uses and components which required access control and separation of circulation. The office needed to be central to both the exam room corridor and the consult room corridors while the iodine room and lab had other security and designated exit concerns. Also the training room, which is similar to a classroom or lecture hall needed restroom access, yet limited access to the rest of the building during closed hours. By segregating uses with corridor controls yet utilizing common and restroom spaces, the building program was able to cut square footage and provide greater utilization. The site and building were also designed to blow through a section of the building for future expansion of the facility.
